Story of the Month - Thomas White

Thomas White first began work with Brittwood Constructions in early 1998 as a Bobcat operator. Over the next eight years Thomas has progressed from Plant Operator to Leading Hand and then Site Supervisor in 2004.

In July 2005 Thomas was badly injured whilst on holiday in Vietnam. As a result of the injuries, Thomas spent 9 months in hospital and four months at home recovering. Due to a permanent disability as a result of the accident, Thomas was unable to resume work on sites.

Brittwood Constructions had made the decision to bring their Quality, Safety and Environmental Systems up to the national standards. With Thomas’ previous experience in many aspects of civil construction, this became an ideal new role for Thomas within the company.

Thomas is now responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Quality and Safety Environmental Management Systems, produces Construction Safety Plans, Environmental Management Plans, and assists Contracts Engineer’s and Site Supervisor’s on quality, safety and environmental management matters. Once again the Brittwood culture has assisted an employee in his moment of need and retained a valuable employee for the future.
